Children's Education and Ministry at Watkinsville First United Methodist Church
Here at Watkinsville First United Methodist Church, we offer a varied program of Christian Education that focuses on the spiritual development of children and their families. Activity Kits
Activity Kits are available for use by children during worship. They include crayons, a pencil, and a Children's Bulletin. During the 11am worship service, children ages 4 through 1st grade will be dismissed to Children's Church where they will participate in engaging activities centered on the Bible.
Children's Choirs
Children's choirs meet on Wednesday beginning at 5:30 pm. There are choirs for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Our music director, Chris Argo, has more information and can be reached at music@watkumc.org.
Wednesday Night Activities
Each Wednesday from 6:50 until 8:00 pm there are activities for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade whose parents are participating in our adult studies or choir practice. Youth in grades 6 through 12 have youth meetings during this time.
Special Children's Retreats
Our fall worship retreat includes Acolyte Training for 3rd graders, and a field trip and lock in for 4th and 5th grades. The Spring retreat focuses on missions and involves all grades in service.
Special Events and Activities
- Our Fall Festival is held annually on the Wednesday closest to Halloween from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Come join us for an evening of food, fun, and games!
- Our Advent Fair is held annually on the fourth Sunday before Christmas from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Join us for a snack supper and Christmas crafts!
- Our Eggstravaganza is annually held at our church. We have lunch, an egg hunt, fun and games! The community and all members are invited to attend. Everyone can come and enjoy food, fellowship and fun.
