Rev. Allyson Lawrence

Senior Pastor

Allyson was born in a small town in New Mexico. She spent the early part of her childhood in Snyder, Texas, and Richardson, Texas, moving to Bossier City, Louisiana, her sophomore year in high school. She met her late husband, Kevin, while attending Louisiana Tech University where they both received their Bachelor of Science Degrees in Forestry. They married in March of 1998 and moved to Georgia in 2002. Their first daughter, Jadyn, was born in 2004, and Kaitlyn was born in 2006.

Allyson loves spending time with her girls and enjoys dabbling in art. Her favorite form of exercise is swimming. Jadyn and Kaitlyn enjoy soccer, swimming, and music. Their musical abilities have even inspired Allyson to begin relearning how to play the piano.

After graduating from Louisiana Tech, Allyson worked in the forestry field for 8 years (four of those years with the University of Georgia). In 2007 she answered God’s call and began working toward ministry as vocation. She was appointed as a Part-time Local Pastor at Prospect United Methodist Church in Morgan County while she attended seminary at Candler School of Theology at Emory University. In 2008, she was appointed to Griffin First United Methodist Church as an Assistant Pastor focusing on youth ministries. She graduated with her Master of Divinity in 2010, with a concentration in Spiritual Formation. Ordained in 2015, Allyson is passionate about discipleship ministries and intentional spiritual formation practices.
